When The World Stands Still

When The World Stands Still is a new song i wrote… wrote it on xmas eve… while most peeps were at home with their families drinking egg-nogg and captain mo’s, sitting next to a warm fire ( or watching the dude poke the fire every half hour on channel 4 ) i was at work… i work downtown at a restaurant. on breaks we hang out in the back alley where people smoke, get high, sit down and rest the legs, or in some cases… live… most of the time we dismiss these people as losers in life… leaches, something like the crows, who once you feed once, keep comin back for more…. well on the eve of this “great” holiday we call christmas i took the opportunity to get to know one of these people a little more in depth… his name is james … spends his days sleeping in the library or church.. spends his nights keeping warm by cleaning up the mess WE ( people who work in the building) make… so i made him some dinner and in return he gave me inspiration for this new song… .. i tried to implant the emotions of christmas, the dark side of christmas, i tried to paint the image of a day where the less fortunate struggle with society and their inner demons. a day where LOADS AND LOADS of money is wasted on bullshit possessions that inevitably end up either in closets or under beds. a day where in some eyes the rest of the world seems to stand still and it is just them and their surroundings.

it may be my new found sobriety that has forced me to take a harsh look at reality, the real world… and truly realize how effed up it all reely is. maybe i need a drink to escape the reality so i can go back to how it all was before… but in the meantime i must just be… and do the best i can in whatever it is i am doing… listen to great music, eat great food, and enjoy great company even if they carry the label “Bum”

Biography

In his Twenty short years on this planet, Zach has managed to write, record, experiment and tamper with just about every genre of music out there. Born in Vancouver, Canada in 1988, to a father who was a Musician/Producer and a mother who was an artistic Photographer, Zach was introduced to creativity at a very young age. He attempted to write his first song at the age of four. Barely being able to write – let alone sing – the turn out was imaginably not great, but all the same impressive. At around the same point in time, Zach was forced to deal with the pain of his parents separation and turned to his father’s music as therapy. Nonetheless, he was very fortunate to receive a proper up-bringing minus the “broken-home” synopsis, due to the strength provided by his influences.

In High-school, Zach was in and out of musical groups including a lengthy stint with hip-hop as a producer/writer. He enrolled in a course which was introduced by his school, entitled Music Composition where he learned to put sounds together using synthesizers and samplers with such programs as Reason and Digital Performer. This opened doors to a whole new world where, without the costly set-back of high-end studios, he was able to create music and share it with others.

Completing a college level Certificate program in Music Production, Zach is on yet another path of musical exploration writing music for his upcoming album, “Love, Lust & Liquor” which has been quoted as, “Acoustic-Soul… love songs for a modern society.” Infatuated with the sounds of old Motown, the innovative influence of the Beatles and the clever recycling process of the Golden Years of hip hop, Zach’s music is an interesting mesh of all; authentic, convincing and real.
